Rehearsal Plan for 2/17/26

Good evening, CWC.

Thank you for a very good rehearsal yesterday.
I know it is a lot of work and a lot of repetition – but we will make progress. You are sounding beautiful already.
I hope it helps to take these pieces in smaller chunks and begin to link them together. I love this repertoire and hope you find satisfaction and beauty in the music.
So, for Tuesday, 2/17, here is your rehearsal plan:
  • The Tree House, Beth Denisch: – “Landfall” – whole movement. Review the rhythms, dynamics, accents; “Alder” – beginning through m. 24. This is where I will begin. The old CWC recording will really help here. As will Jennifer’s brilliant midi files.
  • Alway Something Singsmm. 28 – end. That is tutti singing. Remember to contact Linde, Jennifer, or me if you have any questions or confusion over when/where to sing.
  • Hope Is the Thing: Let’s try to run the whole piece. It is all about the words and the speed. Stay with it. Remember the repeat (mark it).
  • Birds of Passage: mm. 4836 – end. Not too much added material. Remember that you will need a short phrase (one that is meaningful to you or that you love – just easy to remember) that will be repeated in that whispered/spoken section.
  • Shadow River: page 8, last three notes  – end. Watch the dynamics and the breaths. This is very “in the body” singing.
  • I Started Out Singing: SAME MATERIAL, page 3, mm. 38 – end. Energy. Careful of the diphthongs.
  • Where the Light Begins: SAME MATERIAL, page 6, mm. 20 – end. Watch the rhythms carefully. I promise that the recording I gave you will really help this piece – just hearing the rhythms within the flow of the piece. I think it is easier than staring at the notes!
The recordings and midi files on the members section of the website will support your personal practice. (www.concordwomenschorus.org).

Thank you for all of your hard work. I look forward to seeing you on Tuesday.
Sending hearts and flowers and much love for a very Happy Valentine’s Day (however you choose to spend it).
