March 17, 2026 Rehearsal Plan

Dear CWC,

Thank you for another productive rehearsal on Tuesday. Thanks to Simon, we are making our way through this new material. Remember that our recording sessions (Wednesday, May 13 and Thursday, May 14 with a rehearsal on Tuesday, May 12) are specifically for the three COMMISSIONS of the last 16 years: Concord Fragments (all three movements), Grown Wild, and The Tree House (all three movements). These are very special pieces, written just for us!
So, on Tuesday, March 17 (☘️), we will concentrate on a number of specific passages. Simon will be on vacation, so I will be at the piano.
This is an opportunity for you to come READY and EAGER to review difficult passages that you have been working on. I will happily go over the material with you. I will take requests from the chorus!
What I would like to do:
  • Continue “The Orchard,” Movement 2 of The Tree House. mm. 41 – 74. New material. I would listen to it and to the file Jennifer has created for you.
  • Check the ending of “Alder,” specifically m. 74 to the end. So many gnarly places!
  • RHYTHMS of Where the Light Begins. Let’s tackle this as a group.
  • Alway Something SingsLet’s chop at it from the beginning. Remember to contact Linde, Jennifer, or me if you have any questions or confusion over when/where to sing.
  • Concord Fragments: This Day I am Eighteen.”
  • Shadow River: page 8, last three notes  – end. Watch the dynamics and the breaths. This is very “in the body” singing.
  • I Started Out Singing: Whole piece, let’s work through it if we have time.
OK. This is more than we will get to. But a lofty goal, nonetheless.
Thank you for all you are doing! Your hard work is paying off.
I look forward to seeing you on Tuesday.
Enjoy the sun while it is with us!
