Second Soprano Rehearsal Notes

Soprano 2 Notes
12/2/2025
So here is the challenge – We have to watch constantly and follow Jane, except she is sometimes busy elsewhere so we have to count and manage cutoffs and entrances by ourselves. So, confidence! Be ready and if Jane is not giving you the clue, do it anyway. Always count so you are ready. There are multiple places we have to take responsibility, and I'm guessing once the instruments are there, those will only increase.
O Come
m. 97  “cawm” more toward “ah” than “uh”
Illuminare
Do not follow the soloists or you will miss your entrances.
We have to count – 4, subdivided 3, whatever, know where you are and what the other parts are doing (like when to come out and when to back off).
m. 35  Higher G sharp, and softer
m. 71  Wicked soft
pg 11, bottom  Turn early, m. 82 is surprising us
m. 89  One of those places where we have to cut off and enter on our own.
m. 94 – 98  Another place
In Tenebris
m. 15 – 22  Don't get snake charmed here. Stay alert, energetic, in the body when we come in at 24.
m. 86  Light “T”
m. 108  Watch
m. 137 – 140  The 12/8 is there for the instruments – they are doing fancy things. A dotted quarter is 1 beat, we are in 4. Mark where each of the 4 beats are so you don't have to think, cause we have to do this on our own.
Gloria
m. 90  Someone is still not getting down to the G on “cel”.
Creator
This is mystical
And don't forget to make the arcs on each phrase.
m. 19  Energy
m. 56  Cutoff without Jane! (She is busy with the firsts).
m. 57  Watch Jane for the entrance
m. 111  Watch – Jane is taking some time and giving us each fermatta. Then count again in m. 112 (subdivided 3).
What Child
m. 60  Gets faster
m. 76 – end  Another place to manage on our own.

Thursday
Tricon, 9:15. Rowena is making a standing chart (we'll adjust if necessary but she is good at this). Do not park in the church lot on Thursday. Make time to park and get to the church from your car. Put your music in your folder in order. We won't practice in order but get ready now.
Annual Appeal
If you have not contributed, please do. It can be $5, just so we have 100% participation. Sounds crazy, but this show of commitment helps us get grants. If you are not sure that you contributed, ask Amy. BTW I received a letter from Bonnie for my contrib, so if you didn't, you might not have 🙂
See you Thursday,
Linde
