Second Soprano Rehearsal Notes

Just a reminder – never write on your music in pen, only pencil. Someone else will be using the same music and will want their own markings, not yours. Someone had a piece with pen today so I thought I'd remind you (you can all sympathize now 🙂

We had Simon conduct and instruct us today. He started with a great voice lesson.

We sang through Grown Wild to get us started with something familiar.

m. 5-6  Sing the “D” of “and” – elide it with “sings” “andasings”

m. 11  Relax when you sing “and” – don't clip it

m. 16-19  Sing through

m. 20  Note that G sharp and A flat are enharmonic (sound the same)

m. 49  Turn now

m. 64-67  again, enharmonic (G sharp -> A flag -> G sharp)

m. 10-11  sing through, emphasize “oh” not “yes”

m. 15  B flat needs to be high, crescendo a little on “ing”

m. 16  Crescendo a little on “Oh”

m. 82  Forte

m. 84  Make the D high

m. 8  No “s” on skies as we cut off early

Also, make sure to sing a D on “tint-“

m. 30  Switches to D major here

Think bigger units, as in the whole phrase, even if there is a rest in the middle of it.

m. 5  “the' is the pickup, and leads to “sky” Don't clip it.
