Soprano 2 Notes
Ladies,
Make sure you check Jane's rehearsal plan. She has specific notes for our section!
Concord Hymn
m. 11  Change words so “the-em” is elided and on the B, “ba” is on the A, “ttled” is on the G.
m. 13  No breath
m. 30  No breath either before or after “down”
m. 48-49  The B C B need to be high

m. 5  “h” before the “oo”
m. 9  Piano
m. 9-10  The A's need to be higher
m. 11  “leef”, the A needs to be higher, sing straight
m. 12  Our note is important
m. 14  No “R”
m. 15  Unison, so softer
m. 18  “and gave her to me” should be less legato, just give it a little emphasis
m. 22  Completely legato
m. 25, 28, 47, 50  It is critical to watch Jane for each iteration of “months, years”
And, if you are not absolutely sure where the “s” goes, leave it off
m. 35  Warmly
m. 50-52  Starts mezzo piano, crescendo to forte
m. 52  Careful of the cutoff; it's on beat 3. We probably have to do it on our own.
m. 53  Forte
m. 54  B natural needs to be higher, make it as sharp as you can.
m. 89 – end  Each “up” should be a quarter note quarter rest and the “P”s should be plosive “pə”. Watch Jane so we  “pə”  together.
Also, “wah…ld”
m. 96  Put a good “Də” on beat 2 (with you know who of course).
In Some Dry, Dry Earth
m. 1  Piano, start gently in.
m. 8  Note the quick crescendo
m. 9  Warmly
m. 11  “hwhen”  and, it's mezzo forte, but don't stand out
m. 13 etc.  Flip the “r” of “root” if you can
m. 17  Cross off the dot of “root” make it a quarter note quarter rest so we sing the “T” with the altos
m. 19  “root” is an eighth note eighth rest so we can sing the “T” together
m. 45  Make something of the hairpins so “smiles” smiles
This Day I am 18
m. 5  Keep the G light, lifted
m. 14  Breath at end
m. 15  Sing through the page turn, keep the drive of the line through the whole line through “alone”
m. 28  Forte
m. 30  No retard
m. 31  No retard
m. 34  “Dah”
Walden
(This movement is so challenging).
m. 4  Accelerando, then be ready for the retard in 11
m. 12  Watch.  “u-ni-saw”
m. 27  Crescendo
m. 29  Turn here so you are ready for the (very challenging) m. 31
m. 33  Jane removed the breath, so carry “light” to m. 34 as written
m. 38  Note the accent on “ech”. Just accent that.
m. 46  “the” is an eighth – don't be the person coming early 🙂
m.  58  Again, mark it Turn Now
(I just changed my m. 90 – and I had it so well marked that it was different 🙂
Have a good week. Have fun practicing. Stay healthy.
