Second Soprano Rehearsal Notes

4/16/25
Soprano 2 Notes
Walden
m. 5  Watch! Accel through the “ah”
m. 10  Watch again. Now it ritards. Also, get through the “bl” quickly.
m. 29  Mark your music to Turn Now. Top of 18 is tricky and we need to be ready.
m. 43  Long vowels (in the body)
m.50 – 55  Don't be slow on the eighth notes (don't let the dotted eighths influence the eighths)
m. 54  “keeps pace” – typo (try not to make it sound like “keep space” 🙂
m. 58  Again, mark your music to turn early – same configuration.
m. 90 – 92  Keep this moving, aim for and be ready for the unison D in m. 93. “good” needs to be together with the whole chorus in time and pitch
m. 105  “keeps pace” – typo
m. 110  No decrescendo for second sopranos, our G needs to be heard
Sky Song
m. 17  I wrote “accel.” above our line so I wouldn't miss it
m. 18  I wrote it again cause of the page turn
m. 21  Same with the “rit” here
m. 22  And the “a tempo”
m. 52 – 59  Try to do the accents (but hit right on, no swooping)
m. 60  Slower
m. 64 – 68  More accents
Come Spring
m. 9  Marcatto, not staccato (recording is staccato, Jane does not like it)
m. 9  “selves” is a quarter, but just a quarter
m. 14  “selves” is an eighth, make it short, don't hang onto the “s”
m. 21  “slur” is a quarter
m. 23  The “p” of “slap” should be on the downbeat of m. 24
m. 33  Sing a good “K” and “aw” = “Kaw”, and it's mezzo forte
m. 39  The D should be lighter, less; almost silent by the end
m. 43  Piano
m. 45  The D natural needs to be lower
m. 50  Don't drop the eighth notes, support and lift
m. 53  Watch
Concord Hymn
m. 4  In 2
m. 7  Breath after “flood”
m. 10  Breath after “furled”
m. 11  “thee-ehm” on the B, “Batt” on the A, “tled” on the G
m. 27  Breath after “sleeps”
m. 28  Pronounced “Ru – ihnd”
m. 40  Breath after “stream”
m. 43  Breath after “stone”
m. 44 – 49  No breath
And remember
m. 56  No breath
m. 57  Breath after “die”
m. 59  Breath after “free”
m. 62  No breath
Enjoy the rest of your week.
